No qualifications or training required instruction will be provided on the day.

Blog 2912: County Champion

Eighteen year old Club Captain, Chloe Blaydon, won the 5km Derbyshire Open Water Championship, in just over one hour. The Derbyshire Championships were swum as a combined event with the Regional Championships at Bosworth Water Park on Sunday.
The photograph shows Chloe receiving her Championship medal.

Last weekend Chloe went to Lake Orta in Italy, to compete in the Oceanman series.
She was competing in the 4.5K open water championship, having arrived on the Friday she had a practice swim in beautiful calm waters, however when Sunday morning arrived the weather had taken a turn for the worse with thunder, lightning and hailstones.  Luckily the weather had improved by lunchtime and the race went ahead.
The 257 competitors set off from the island in the middle of the lake, just over an hour later Chloe arrived back at the finish line in a time of 1m08. She was 30 overall, 5th female back and 2nd in the Elite age group. This now qualifies her for the World Championships in Spain in October.
