The kit is ready for collection.

We will be in West Park café tonight from 7.15pm until 8.30pm

Blog 3106: Chesterfield round up

Long Eaton headed to Matlock for Chesterfield's Winter Open Championships. This was the end of cycle meet for the club, and swimmers produced a number of PB's across the range of events. The biggest test at this meet was being able to step up and swim finals after a number of heat swims. To be a successful swimmer, you need to ensure that you develop that part of your character, where you can step up and swim better than your heat. That is where Champions are made.
Going into the New Year and a new cycle, let's ensure that we have a higher number of entrants for the last meet of the cycle, as a significant portion of the training we do is geared towards that last Open Meet. For a lot of us, we put in twelve weeks of work with no reward at the end of it. All retch and no vomit. Rest well, have a good Christmas, and a Happy New Year.

It is essential we have accurate contact information for all members.

Blog 3102: Sporty Swim

Each purchase with Sporty Swim will also benefit the club; funds are spent on activities to benefit its members.

Blog 3101: Winter Nationals

This year Long Eaton were once again represented at Winter Nationals. This is a very high level meet with international swimmers such as World Champion Mollie Renshaw and Olympic finalist Ben Proud competing. So to have swimmers there is a major achievement for the club.

With DX electing to start their Long Course season early the club was represented by home based swimmers Adam Freundlich and Hannah Cox, both doing the 50 breast as Adam had to pull out of the 100 due to illness and Loughborough University based swimmer Kevin Wallbank. Kevin picked up a Bronze in the 100m fly and a silver in the medlay relay with Adam finishing 24th and missing out on a B final place by just .3 of a second and Hannah finishing in 27th doing a seasons best swim.

A massive well done to all those swimmers who qualified for this National event, hopefully you will be joined by more swimmers next year.,

Blog 3098: Test swimmers wanted

The club is going to run a 12 week test of its training methods in the New Year, the results of which could change, not only the way we train our youngsters but, could become the future method for training age group swimmers. As we are trying to finalise bits and bobs to put this test together we are now looking for volunteers to take part in the test. We are looking for 2 boys and 2 girls of similar birth months in the following age brackets as of 31st December 2017, 9,10,11 & 12 years old. 1 Boy and 1 girl from each age group will be put into a control group and the other boy and girl into the test group, so we can compare current methods against a possible change in method. Swimmers who volunteer for this test must commit fully to the training in the groups they are selected for which means attendance must be high and swimmers must have a strong work ethic to training. If you wish to be considered for this test please contact me.

Blog 3097: Arena League

The final round of Arena League was held last Saturday and once again Long Eatons very young team stepped up and competed brilliantly. With key swimmers missing in both teams swimmers represented their club in a positive and professional manner, racing events in which they were either, competing against much older swimmers or that were not their best events, putting the team first and without complaining, turning that ME truly into a WE. Despite missing swimmers the A team came 3rd on the night and 16th in the league (a full team probably would of won the gala and the club would of finished 11th in the league in doing so) and the B team battled bravely with reports of great team spirit and a superb effort by its young boys in particular.

The dates for next years league are 14/10/2017, 11/7/2017 & 9/12/2017 I hope a years notice is enough for every swimmer in the club to keep these dates free, so we can put out our strongest teams in each round. Being selected to represent your club should be worn like a badge of honor.

Blog 3096: East Midlands Selection

Long Eaton are very proud to announce that Emily Osborne, Esther Halford & Ryan Reader have been selected to represent the East Midlands Region competing at the 8th Trophee National des Hortillons competition, Amiens, France. The racing will take place from Friday 20th to Sunday 22nd January. Well done swimmers on your selections.

Blog 3090: ASA and Club Membership Renewal

This year we have changed the method of ASA and club membership fee collection.

The previous process of collecting this value over the first 6 months of the standing orders was leading to significant number of issues with incorrect amounts being paid, giving rise to difficulties in correcting over and under payments.

This year we will be collecting these fees as a single payment before the end of January.

Invoices for the amount payable will be distributed by the squad reps from this weekend to be completed before we break for Christmas.

In addition to the invoice the contact information which the club has on file will also be in the envelope, please check this information sign and return via the box at West Park if correct or update, sign and return if amendments are required.

It is essential that the club has accurate contact information for all members.

Please ensure all payments are received via the end of January.

Blog 3082: Chesterfield Super Sprint Meet

Last Saturday, it was good to see a large group of 30 plus swimmers headed to the Chesterfield super sprint open meet. In what at times, seemed like a Chesterfield/Long Eaton Duel in the pool meet, we competed well in all the age group categories with limited rest intervals between events, and still managing to average an over 80% PB ratio. Taking top visiting club and Finlay Moss taking top boy, it was a very successful open meet for the club, making great strides to finishing off the year well and having another successful competition in a few weeks at Chesterfields Winter Open Meet.

Due to changes how galas are marshalled and a desire to comply with ASA recommendations relating to the ratio of team managers to swimmers it has become necessary to add a fee of £1 per swimmer to gala entries.

This pound will go to cover the costs of team manager and coaching passes that the club incurs.

These charges will be applied from entries for the 2017 Derbyshire counties onwards.
