Blog 3219: Trent College Friday 31st March

The pool at Trent College is now back in action and tonight's session will take place as normal.

Blog 3218: Sunday 9th April

With National, Midland and County squads all in action on 9th April we are giving our junior swimmers the opportunity to swim Long Course and gain vital experience. JD1 will have a bonus session at Loughborough University pool between 4 and 5pm and JD2's session will change to 5 to 6pm immediately afterwards. Swimmers are asked to be there in time to do pre-pool prior to the session and stretch after the session as normal.

Blog 3217: Sheffield Prem Meet / British Championships

This was a very hard meet to get into as many of the top swimmers in all age groups were there. This was the last weekend to get British Championship Qualifying times (click on this link for all information about British Championships https://www.britishswimming.org/events-and-tickets/british-swimming-championships-2017/ ). As you will see the times required to get into these championships are very high.

We had 3 swimmers compete over the weekend and it was well worth the trip. All 3 swimmers achieved personal best times, moving up the rankings and heading towards their goals. Lana Dilks despite being injured improved her 50 back Long Course just missing out on her regional time. James Webster improved his 50 breast Long Course time to move up to 10th fastest Long Eaton swimmer in the event ever. The highlight of the weekend was Hannah Cox qualifying for British Championships. Going into the gala she was just .08 of a second off the required time of 33.42. In the heat swim she pb'd but missed the time going 33.46. However having changed a couple of points of technique between the heat and final Hannah went 33.16 smashing her PB and achieving the qualifying time for British Championships.

Hannah now joins Adam Freundlich at this years British Championships. This is the first year we have been represented at this event, so to have not just one but two swimmers going is a massive achievement for the club and shows how standards in the club are rising. Hannah Swims on Tuesday 18th of April and Adam on Wednesday 19th. The draft programme is out and both are ranked highly and have a chance at making finals. If you go through the programme you will see how fast this meet is going to be with all of our Rio stars in action. There is a live feed available but it would be great if the swimmers, your team mates, had some support in the audience. Tickets are available through the above link.

Blog 3216: DX Open Meet - Information for Swimmers and Parents

Please note the following for the DX Open Meet:

Dear Club Contact
many thanks for entering our 11th April Open meet, we are looking forward to welcoming you all to Sheffield for a weekend of fast swimming.
To enable to the weekend to run as smoothly as possible, Ive included some information for you.

Admissions and Seating
The coaches packs will be located on the admissions desk into the main venue, just past the cafe. Please collect these on your way into the venue.
We will be ensuring coaches and swimmers are seated to the RIGHT of the pool as you enter and ALL visiting parents and family members will be directed to sit to the LEFT. This is following feedback from previous meets.
If coaches could ensure any withdrawals are promptly reported to the Omega suite during the warm up of each session. This ensures no empty lanes during the meet, which can be frustrating to swimmers, coaches and spectators
The Sheffield City marathon takes place on the Sunday, please find attached some information regarding road closures around Sheffield on Sunday 9th April.

If you could forward this information on to all attending coaches, swimmers and parents that would be great.
Have a safe journey to Sheffield and DX look forward to welcoming our friends from across the country and abroad for a great weekend of swimming.
regards
Lesley
Meet Promoter

Blog 3215: Nuneaton and Bedworth Information for Swimmers and Spectators

Please note the following information from NABSC:

Many thanks for supporting this meet, we look forward to welcoming you all, –the number of entries once again has been unprecedented, we have tried to accommodate as many entries as possible, however there were inevitably some rejections.
Because we have accommodated more swimmers there will obviously be more spectators which means that the stands will be full, so please take the opportunity to take advantage of the café & outdoor space between races so that everyone is able to see their child/ren swim.
Parking will also be at a premium, we would encourage car sharing where possible, as the payable pool parking can get very busy. Alternative parking is available directly opposite the entrance to Pingles (entrance is by the traffic lights opposite the Cedar Tree pub) this is a free carpark and is approx. 2-3 mins walk from the pool, there is also a free car park on Attleborough Road opposite the Bull pub, this is also free and is approx. 5 mins walk to the pool.
We will also be monitoring bags on poolside, we have stated in the promoters conditions that swimmers should only bring a small bag (drawstring PE bag/bootbag size) on poolside, this is to ensure that the room on poolside is kept free for swimmers and so that air vents are not blocked. Large bags or any non essential items will not be permitted on poolside. Swimmers/coaches will be asked to put them in a locker or leave with parents in the stands.
We have organised additional benches poolside for swimmers & coaches so please do not bring any fold up chairs with you, there will be no room for these and if they are brought in you will be asked to remove them from poolside.
There are plenty of lockers available in the changing rooms for all bags, coats & personal items.
There will not be a swim shop at the meet as the room will be used for marshalling to ensure the smooth running of the meet. As this room is by the entrance can we please ask that swimmers, parents, coaches leave this area free so we can avoid congestion.
Swimmers are not allowed in the stands or the marshalling room with bare feet so please make sure that all swimmers/coaches have suitable footwear with you.  We will be strictly enforcing this so please pass this info on to parents to avoid any unnecessary upset.
Entry is £5 for the day or £3 per session, programmes are available at an extra cost. We will be running a raffle and also a chocolate tombola.
There is a café on site and supermarkets/shops are within walking distance of the pool.
We are still short officials for all sessions, I would just like to remind all clubs who have submitted entries that it is a requirement as per our terms and conditions that you supply officials, to make sure the meet is able to run.  We would appreciate any clubs who have yet to do so please urgently send details of officials to mrsmoot@btinternet.com .  If as a club you are unable to supply the required officials please contact the same email to advise this.
Thank you again for supporting our meet, the above details are purely to help the smooth running of the meet, we hope you have an enjoyable weekend.

As President of L.E.S.C., I would like to congratulate swimmers, coaches, team managers and officials. It was a privilege to share it with you.
