Blog 3300: Long Eaton Carnival

What a fantastic time we had at the carnival, it was  a very hot day and as a result of that was a good turn out  of people.
We made a total of £255 and I would like to thank people who donated gifts for the tombola and baked some very nice cakes for our cake stall.
A big thank you to Angie, Kim and Alex for their help on the day, let's hope next year will be equally as fun.

Blog 3283: 2018 Swim Camp

We are starting a detailed review of swim camp for February 2018.

The potential dates are across the school half term break for Derbyshire 16th Feb through to 26th Feb, but dates and duration are yet to be confirmed.

Favoured destinations are Fuerteventura, Cyprus or potentially Turkey.

Costs are yet to be worked out completely but we are thinking that these will be around £1000 for 7 days.

Swimmers wishing to attend camp must be 12 years or older.

If you are interested please email chair@longeatonswimmingclub.org.uk by the close of play 30th June 2017.

Final decisions in agreeing swimmers attendance on camp will be at the discretion of the coaching staff in consultation with the team managers.

Blog 3282: diddy league round two review

Long Eaton's diddy team went to Hucknall to compete in the second round of the diddy league competition. After securing a good position in the first round, finishing in the top three would mean a potential place in the final. The first spot likely already taken, there were several teams which could contend for the other higher place finishes. Unfortunately, at moments like this mistakes can be costly, and long eaton suffered seven disqualifications during the night, from false starts to takeovers and in the end this cost us dearly. This round was always going to be a hard fought battle, and it was disappointing to finish fifth. But these things happen in any sport, and you have to keep working to make the improvements you can to ensure the next round has a much more satisfactory result.
