Blog 3315: Changes to training Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th July

Due to the Chesterfield Open Meet taking place on Saturday and Sunday this weekend, there will be no training sessions on either days for both County and Midland Squads.

All other sessions remain unchanged.

Blog 3314: Chesterfield Summer Splash Warm Up Times amd Withdrawal Information

Please find below the warm up times for the Chesterfield Open meet this weekend:

Session 1 - Saturday 15th July - Warm Up 1pm Start 2pm
Session 2 - Sunday 16th July - Warm Up 8am Start 9am
Session 3 - Sunday 16th July - TBC - Please check the Chesterfield SC website for any updates

Session 1 will be a long session with a 30-minute break after event 108. During this time swimmers will have access to the pool for warm up/swim down purposes. The pool will be cleared 10 minutes prior to the scheduled start of event 109. There will be no diving during this time and the pool will be open to both boys and girls of all ages for the duration. The meet organisers reserve the right to alter the conditions of this pool access at any time.

There is limited space available on poolside for swimmers and so there will be access to the Main Hall for teams to congregate. The Main Hall is for swimmers, team managers, coaches and volunteers. Any parents wishing to meet their children should do so upstairs.

Swimmers MUST be wearing appropriate footwear and be dry before leaving the pool area to return to the Main Hall. The Main Hall will be monitored but we ask that Team Managers ensure that swimmers behave appropriately throughout the competition. Food is not allowed on poolside and should only be eaten in the Main Hall. There are strictly no ball games in the Main Hall.

Please make withdrawals prior to the start of the meet to openmeet@chesterfieldsc.co.uk or to the desk at the front of the balcony during the meet but before the start of the warm up for the relevant session to avoid unnecessary delays to the competition.

Blog 3308: Matlock Open Meet

Unfortunately, even with such a short deadline for entries I have received notification from Matlock Swimming Club that they have been heavily oversubscribed and all our entries have been rejected.

I have spoken with Spen who has advised he is looking at 2 alternative open meets - DX level 3 on 7/8 October and Lincoln Vulcans Long Course on the 7th October.  I will blog the entry details for these meets shortly.

I will destroy all cheque payments made for the Matlock Open Meet and will endeavour to get any cash payments back to parents via the appropriate squad reps. I will also arrange for any BACS payments to be returned.

Many apologies for any inconvenience.

Blog 3307: DX Open Meet

A really good turn out for this meet led to some great swims with 82 PB's from 125 swims on the day. Again this was a mid cycle meet so for swimmers to be swimming PB's is a bit of a surprise. I firmly believe that we have had as much success as we have this season because of the way we cycle and focus on different things at meets. This showed particularly with the swimmers that have followed the gala programme fully this season, as their ability to swim races skillfully and with great tactical awareness was at the fore. Overall the meet left feeling excited about the future and really looking forward to seeing what the swimmers can do at the end of this season and into next.
